Ria Boers van Stappershoef and some work of her students and quilting friends.
The exhibition at the "Rijssen's Museum" (Rijssen, the Netherlands) is open for public from September 25 - November 28.
One of the collections of the museum that are also worth seeing are the 500 irons, mangle boards complete with all fittings and related items for washing, pressing and heating from all over the world (collection Van Santen).
These are some of the irons, hanging from the ceiling in the attic loft:

For me the fun started already this week, because I was able to share a helping hand in exhibiting the quilts. It is a great experience to realise an exhibition instead of only undergoing it as a visitor.
If you are in the neighbourhood, please visit the museum and enjoy this one of a kind exhibition. For the ones who are not able to come to Rijssen:
I will try to let you be part of it all by showing some impressions in following blogs.
Thank you for your time!

I would so love to see the exhibition. I hope it goes well. Those irons are amazingly beautiful. Shame they don't make them like that any more.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of all those irons. Mind you I am so glad I have my electric one now. They look like hard work to use
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs Gina xxx
My grandmother used to have some irons like the ones that you show. I wish I had them now (but not use actually use!). I am anxious to see pictures of the show.
