book review: the Quilting Arts book

Patricia ("Pokey") Bolton, founder and editor-in-chief of Quilting Arts magazine, presented some of the most popular topics, articles, and artists from past issues of Quilting Arts Magazine in The Quilting Arts book: Techniques and Inspriration for Creating One-of-a-Kind Quilts:

The book offers hands-on workshops on the art-quilt related, including creating abstract, pictorial, and landscape quilts to in-depth techniques on surface design and stitching applications. Each chapter showcases various art quilting concepts and ends with quick creative exercises and tips.

According to the table of contents and index, world's leading quilt artists give insight in how they create their art so successfully.
A stunning and comprehensive gallery of their creations offers lots of ideas for designs.

The beautiful illustrated techniques and the accompanying tips, with a focus on the contemporary, are clearly writen. Probably not for the traditional quilter, unless you are looking for new directions, the book is perhaps more suitable for the intermediate quilter.

If you don't have back issues of the Quilting Arts magazine prior to October 2008, or love having the magazine's articles in a book form, or enjoy lots of inspiring "eye-candy", the book also may be just what you are looking for.

The Quilting Arts book is amongst others online available at:
