From Dip-A-Dee-Stitching |
For another accent I stitched blue crosses at the border with the sewing machine.
Update November 28:
First, I stitched the dark fabric to the light fabric with a dark monofilament with the same stitch as in Dip-A-Dee-Stitching 045. After that I added the blue crosses and the straight stitches on the outside edge; together they are part of one fancy machine stitch.

The crosses are very effective. What is around the outside edge - stitching or couched thread? Whatever it is, it looks really good.
